March 30, 2014

In the East, Kansas City, Columbus, and New England and big movers and Houston and New York had a bad week. Out West, Salt Lake improves, Vancouver and Dallas receive big gains, and Colorado, San Jose, Portland, and Seattle all tumble. Incredibly, after four games, Seattle are predicted to finish second to last in the West after dropping home games to Columbus and Toronto. Salt Lake retains the predicted lead, but Kansas City have narrowed the gap to about 2.6 points.

Looking at the Monte Carlo simulations, Kansas City makes a big move toward the Supporters Shield, at the expense of everyone in the East save Columbus. Salt Lake are still favorites. Chivas crawls into the playoff picture, and Columbus makes a big jump in the overall predicted outcome.

Toronto getting thrashed by Salt Lake made the numbers a little more boring than they could have been. Toronto would have gotten incredible gains had the scoreline been flipped. Now they'll have to wait at least another week before showing up in the Supporters Shield column.
